Our inspiration began with the Yamaha CP-70, the first and most successful portable electric grand piano. The CP-70 was developed for touring musicians in the 70s, using electric amplification with guitar-like piezo-type pickups. This approach has resulted in a much smaller modular design ideal for the touring musician. It was essentially a 300-pound plug-and-play grand piano. The CP-70 was introduced in the mid-70s and enjoyed positive reception and popularity for over a decade, until it, along with its siblings CP-60 and CP-80, was discontinued shortly after the digital pianos were introduced. … Most widely used by Peter Gabriel, the CP-70 has been a favorite of many pop and prog rock icons, including Stevie Wonder, Keith Emerson, Paul Jones of Led Zeppelin, Boston, Journey, Asia and Genesis.
The goal of this project was to create an entire hybrid piano studio. Great care was taken to convey the sound of the CP-70 as fully and in detail as possible, as a result of which the main library consisted of more than 10,000 samples. 5 discrete channels were recorded including electrical output and instrument acoustics recorded in L / R and M / S configurations. The CP-70’s raw electrical signal was recorded using a Class A DI with Vovox cable into a prism transducer for maximum clarity and clarity. For the acoustic section, a stereo pair of non-standard Bruel and Kjaer microphones are in the standard L / R configuration, while the Neumann U67 and Royer ribbon microphones provide an M / S signal.
10 unique preparations have been recorded including classical, paintbrush, bow, bow, fingers, pickaxe, stick and more. Each preparation was approached with the utmost attention to detail, capturing looping algorithms, release samples, sympathetic resonance and pedal noise for a truly expressive playing experience. Load up the guitar pick preparation, turn on Wheel Strum and play the piano like a guitar, or try bow-cooking with a little Sparkverb ™ – the possibilities are mind-boggling. Installation :
A library with the ufs extension can be copied where it is convenient, in the Falcon settings (preferences \ soundbank) add the path to the library.
