I’ve been a producer and mixer since the early 2000s. You know me from my work with Karnivool, Twelve Foot Ninja, Good Tiger, Dead Letter Circus, Sikth, and many others. I’m known for pushing the boundaries of what’s possible within a project, and that’s the mindset I recommend to all aspiring musicians.
I’m a producer and mixer based on Australia’s Gold Coast, and I’m eager to share the techniques I’ve learned over the years with the next generation of recording professionals.
The reason I created this Fast Track is because the bass guitar’s role in a mix is often misunderstood. It’s more than just a tuned guitar! This instrument can be your backbone, your energy, your groove, your power, your teeth, and quite possibly even your melody. All rolled into one. It’s best to do it right!
In this lesson, I’ll show you how to approach bass mixing in a way that consistently helps me time and time again. I highly recommend practicing these techniques until you master them, and then, and ONLY then, add your own twist. Try to build on what I’ve taught you. That’s how progress is made, isn’t it?
So study hard. Learn these things. Make it real. And when you’ve mastered them, find a better way!
