Description: UJAM Finisher Retro: Vintage sound when you turn a knob
UJAM has released Finisher Retro, the latest plug-in in their Finisher series. Like other Finisher plugins, Finisher Retro contains a complete set of complex effect chains controlled with just a few knobs. But this time, the focus is on vintage sounds from the 60s, 70s, 80s and 90s.
Following the previous releases of NEO, VOODOO and FLUXX, UJAM has just released the newest member of the family, the Finisher RETRO. Like others, the Finisher RETRO aims to simplify the use of complex effect chains, giving you fast results with just a few turns of the plug-in knobs. UJAM says it’s like having a full-blown pedal board and a well-stocked effects rack tuned just for this vintage sound.
The chains of effects hidden under the surface are much more complex than the simple graphical interface shows. According to UJAM, each mode gives you up to 20 interconnected effect modules. There are 50 modes in total, sorted by decades from the 60s to the 90s. They have everything from classic reverbs and delays to flanger, tube saturation and even tape hiss.
All of this is controlled with just a few knobs. You can fine-tune the effects using the Mode, Speed, Grain, and Color controls, then adjust the intensity using the large finisher knob in the center. There is no need to set up complex effect chains yourself and then fiddle with the controls for each individual effect.
Some purists will probably roll their noses at this simplistic approach. But sometimes you just need to get a certain sound or vibration quickly, and over-worrying about details can really get in the way of your creativity. If you love the retro sounds of yesteryear and love fast results, you should definitely take a closer look at the Finisher RETRO.
