Description: Multitrack of the song Gimme Shelter by the legendary British rock band The Rolling Stones for mixing training. The Rolling Stones (literally from English “rolling stones”, idiomatic translation – “free wanderers” or vagabonds, “tumbleweed”) – a legendary British rock band, formed in 1962 and for many years competing in popularity with The Beatles. The Rolling Stones, who became an important part of the British Invasion, are considered one of the most influential and successful bands in the history of rock. Envisioned by manager Andrew Loog Oldham as a “rebellious” alternative to the Beatles, the Rolling Stones were already being touted as “the greatest rock ‘n’ roll band in the world” during their 1969 American tour, and (according to Allmusic) have retained that status to this day.

The Rolling Stones’ musical style, influenced by Robert Johnson, Chuck Berry, Bo Diddley and Muddy Waters, developed its own distinctive style over time; the songwriting duo of Jagger and Richards eventually gained worldwide recognition.

The band released twenty-two studio and eight live albums in the UK (24 and 9 in the US, respectively). Twenty-one singles entered the top ten of the UK Singles Chart, eight of which reached the top of the charts[4]; The Rolling Stones’ respective Billboard Hot 100 numbers are 28 and 8. The Rolling Stones have sold over 250 million albums worldwide, 200 million of which were sold in the United States; by these measures, the band is one of the most successful in history. In 1989, the Rolling Stones were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, and in 2004, they were ranked fourth on Rolling Stone magazine’s list of the 50 Greatest Artists of All Time.
