Description : After 2 hours at 47,000 feet above the ground… we touched early evening. When the door to the hangar swung open, there were hugs and high-fives. We really intended to do this. What started out as a hypothetical β€œwhat if” discussion at a team meeting became as real as the Dassault Falcon that landed here. We were children on Christmas morning. We took our time in this huge space, marveling at our helplessness as we stood in the belly of this space, large enough to house not one… not two… but yes, three aircraft. With a random series of pops and finger snaps, we checked and became familiar with the area. We knew we would either work or fight this space for the next 24 hours. Natural reverb and delay… But was it too noisy? Was the tail too long?

Will noise get into our samples and make drum sampling even more painstaking? There were so many unanswered questions, but the most pressing was obvious: β€œWhat the hell will this sound like on the other side of the monitors?” We unloaded the plane and installed a 26-inch kick drum, a couple of old Rogers toms, a nice black snare, a couple of Constantinople cymbals, some microphones, a mini stand and other equipment that we were able to fit into the plane.

Once everything was set up, Paul hit the first snare and we all screamed (not the usual words… mostly curse words and exclamations). With wings behind us (literally), mountains next to us and the sunset before us, we drummed deep into the night. We’ve found a sound that you won’t believe exists until you hear it. As an opening act for 2018, we’d like to introduce you to a collection of drum samples that is unlike any other you’ve ever heard… Hangar.
