Description : After the rapid growth of the success of our MSW1 single, a group of mono and stereo extender makers, SoundSpot decided it was time to give this extremely popular plug-in to new life. With this in mind, they began developing MSW2. The new MSW2 is a complete overhaul in terms of code, interface and creativity, it can be used as thin for the best mixes, or pushed to the extreme to achieve a multitude of creative possibilities in stereo field. Listed below are the new features of this versatile, lightweight and creative update found in MSW2!
Compatibility
• Ableton Live • Cubase • Logic Pro • Nuendo • Pro Tools 10-12 • Reaper • Reason • Sonar • + much more
Since the Fourier transform has a much lower resolution at the lower end than at the upper end, the graph becomes more accurate as you move up the frequency spectrum, as well as other Fourier-based graphs, like the equalizer spectrum analyzer or spectrogram recovery plugin.
Getting a visual representation of how the stereo information in your track is spread across the frequency spectrum allows you to identify any frequency bands or mix elements that need their stereo image to be adjusted, and gives you more control over the mix as a whole.
MSW2 received a complete overhaul of our stereo enhancer and mono – maker algorithm, and now includes 2 independent groups that allow you to change stereo information based on the crossover frequency.
This allows you greater control over the stereo field, which leads to tougher mixes.
MSW2 has a variable tilt control in the range of 12 dB to 96 dB per octave, which allows you to determine how quickly one range transition to another, and can be set by dragging the knob at the main crossover frequency with a graphical change to reflect your new setting.
Since this function uses a total of 32 filters, it is best to set and forget this parameter, since automation can lead to a click effect. It was possible for us to smooth the clicks, however, the increase in CPU usage was too large to guarantee, including smoothing, the steepness and frequency of the network crossover in the final product.
While developing MSW2, we have found that great effects can be achieved by changing stereo widths over time. With this discovery, we decided that the plugin should have a synchronized LFO control, which allows you to achieve these effects, without the need to write automation bands in your DAW.
The LFO itself has 2 bands, one for the higher frequencies and one for the lower. After the LFO is activated, the orange arrow is turned on in the render panel, which allows you to set the starting position of the LFO.
