R2R NOTE :

Here is our first open beta test of our new installer!
We have developed a new installation system. It is now based on the latest version of Inno Setup 6.
It is written from scratch, based on our experience of creating thousands of installers.
Has anything changed from the previous installer? Not much for you. For us, yes.
We’ve redesigned the installer to save time, reduce human error
(we’re human), and avoid depending on EOL software to support the latest OS versions.
Unfortunately, due to the requirements of Inno Setup 6, we cannot support Windows XP in our latest installer.
But don’t worry, we can still compile the installer with the previous scripts if needed.
We use the original Inno Setup 6 installer. No hidden modifications or encryption
like some others . You can unpack the files with universal unpackers if
the inno version is supported. Can’t find one? Here’s one.

We plan to make our scripts and our beloved R2RINNO plugin (but not our entire
system, of course!) available to the general public after the beta testing stage.
We believe that this should be very useful for other crackers.

– [ ANOTHER SECRET OF INSTALLERS ] –
To ensure the best compatibility with good compression, our installer
does not use data compression at all. Instead of using Inno compression,
we compress the installer with 7Zip or WinRAR. If 7Zip (lzma1/2) allows for
much better compression than RAR5, we use it before the main compression.
That’s why you can still see 7z even after we switched to RAR5 in our releases.
Why doesn’t R2R just use maximum compression in LZMA / Inno Setup?
The hardest compression in Inno Setup works very well, but
some settings cause compatibility issues. This is due to memory allocation in
the 32-bit process area. There was a rumor among developers: “Don’t use maximum compression in Inno”.
To confirm this, we publicly tested compression
with a high compression ratio a few years ago. Even though we tested on many computers, we still received
several reports of memory issues. Since we confirmed this rumor, we have completely
abolished Inno compression. Since then, we have had no reports of memory issues.
[There is no 100% safe compression ratio value in Inno. Because it is
a 32-bit process. Some applications like antivirus or monitoring programs easily take
memory from Inno process. If you want to do high compression, all you can do
is “reduce compression ratio when problem occurs”. Or just give up on it and
use default compression which is proven worldwide to work well even
on old bad computer.]
[Today such strong compression is used in VR and TCD. If you check warez
on forums you can find from time to time messages about “out of memory” problem in their
installer.
The reason is simple: compression.]

The new standard is under development. In the meantime, please help us test
