Description: A masterclass in mixing. Consists of seven 40-minute lessons each. The author of this training program shares his own audio processing and mixing techniques, and also reminds you of the most common aspects of mixing. The program is based on Cubase SX3 and UAD-1, Waves, and other plugins.

This lesson will cover, for example:
• Not all compressors are equally good for bass and snare drums;
• How to position stereo microphones;
• Chorus can soften the sound of a track, and how to achieve this;
• Effective use of reverb;
• An explanation of the compressor’s Attack and Release parameters and how they work with transients (high-frequency elements of a signal);
• How to tighten up vocals and “seat them in the mix”;
• And much more.
This is the complete first and second tutorials on Mixing in the Box from RSO.
1) Recording School Online: Mixing Masterclass
This is the complete first tutorial on Mixing in the Box from RSO.
The .zip archive contains three .SWF flash animation files, each 40 minutes long,
making the total length of this volume two (2) hours.
The software used is Cubase as the host program, and mainly plugins from Waves and Universal Audio.
However, since much of the topics discussed (compression, music production, mixing, processing, etc.) are truly platform- and software-independent, you will have great use for it regardless of your particular setup. 2) Recording School Online: Mixing Masterclass 2
