Description:
Bucketverb imagines an alternate history in which the rare bucket brigade delay (BBD) chip evolved into a sophisticated hardware unit perfect for ambience, lo-fi detuned decays, vocal presence, and more. Unlike standard single-output BBD delays, analog reverbs used a dedicated BBD chip with a multi-throw punch to create multiple simultaneous delay times. Unfortunately, this effect only appeared in a few products before being supplanted by the rise of digital reverbs.

Peculiarities:
In the hardware era, analog BBD reverbs were considered inferior to the digital reverbs of the time. As Brian Eno once said, sounds that are “strange, ugly, and awkward” tend to be “prized and imitated whenever possible,” and this fits the character of BBD reverb! With Bucketverb, you get the sonic signature and unique timing effects of the analog bucket brigade chip. Furthermore, there are features such as switchable stereo modes, including an Ensemble mode with two BBDs, which would have been too difficult to implement in hardware.
If you’re looking for unique atmospheric effects, try Bucketverb! It aggressively delivers higher frequencies and then feeds the signal into our custom BBD model. The result is dark and rich. And thanks to the way Bucketverb pans its six delays across the stereo field, it can take any mono source and create a huge spread from left to right.
Give vocals a lo-fi halo that won’t overshadow their presence in the mix. Mono synths and organs can easily be brought into the stereo field. And drums and percussion gain extra punch from the bouncy sound of ripples and cascading delays (try it on claps!).
