Marvin was much more than a phenomenal singer and composer. On his last album, “Midnight Love” he was the producer and played many instrumental parts…… every song on that album should have been a hit.
He was one exceedingly talented man, but unfortunately was the definition of “paid his dues”. His father, a minister, would take all of Marvin’s clothing, leave him locked in the house all day to wait for the belt when he got home. For the grand finale, his father shot Marvin dead in his bedroom on his 44th birthday. This song is a treasure and one of my favorite cover songs on gigs 🙂 Thanks!!!
