Description: “Ferrari” among the equalizers.
At the end of 2018, MAAT digital launched an equalizer on the market with the intricate name thEQorange. In essence, this is a re-release of the old Algorithmix instrument – PEQ Orange, with an updated user interface, slightly expanded functionality, and most importantly, in the format of 64-bit VST.
thEQorange is an IIR linear phase equalizer. All its features and chips directly follow from here.
β€’ For example, an internal processing resolution of 80 bits (double precision) is necessary in order to reduce the rounding errors inherent in IIR filters in general. The use of double precision is a common feature for all quality IIR filters.
β€’ There is also the use of oversampling when working with the upper frequency limit. Without oversampling with such a design, it would not have been possible to create a symmetrical β€œbell” at frequencies close to half the sampling frequency.
Many master engineers, including MAAT founder Friedemann Tischmeier, were fans of the legendary original Algorithmix Linear Phase PEQ Orange. Unfortunately, Algorithmix equalizers were only available as 32-bit VSTs for PCs and our workstations, and our industry has evolved since then. Tischmeier’s students have repeatedly asked for alternatives, forcing him to scan the market for other high-end equalizers. Colleague Bob Katz recommended EQuilibrium, the insanely versatile tool that Tishmeyer used for training. However, he could not find a satisfactory alternative that would take the place of his original PEQ Orange.
The powerful features of thEQorange are hidden behind its simple and intuitive user interface. It combines all the necessary functions into a single window with a resizable. We’ve included industry first features that speed up your workflow, are neatly packaged to make it simple and intuitive to use. An example is the ability to freely assign sections to either stereo [left / right] or the sum / difference [L + R / L-R] at the same time.
Regardless of whether you are looking for a surgical precision instrument, an imperceptible correction or just spectral transformation without staining, our own, accurate algorithm provides the expectations of linear phase correction. For cleaning and control tasks, use all the power and purity of ThEQorange to complete all your surgical equalization tasks.
