Duran Duran is an English pop rock band formed in Birmingham in 1978. The band got its name from the main villain of the film Barbarella. Along with Depeche Mode, the leading team of the commercial direction in music of the early 1980s, which came out of the “new wave” and was close to electropop.
Duran Duran had several international hits on both sides of the Atlantic in the first half of the 1980s, including “The Reflex” (#1 US and UK, 1984) and “A View to Kill” (#1 US, #2 UK, James Bond theme, 1985).
