It’s nice to know that a sampling company has finally had the courage to release a library so epically dark and scary that it’s called “Dark Movies.” I mean, there are a lot of sound effects and atmospheric libraries dedicated to horror movie music, but none of them have a name as cool as this one.
I can tell you, these innovative inventors at Bluezone Corporation are not sitting on their laurels. They’ve been releasing library after library of them over the past few years, and Dark Movies is the epitome of what a great horror library should be.
First of all, the sound design of this 760MB library is good. Like many Bluezone libraries, Dark Movies demonstrates strong sound design skills. The sounds were created specifically for the genre, and the programming is slick.
While I’ve been going through the samples and listening to them in my DAW, there’s some really good content here that you can use. I especially like the metal strikes. They sound so loud, clear and were prepared with just the right amount of atmosphere for a TV/film score. High-pitched FX sounds are great for futuristic thrillers and sci-fi shows that need an extra edge.
Some samples are downright scary, especially the grinding sounds. Trust me, they will give you goosebumps. Have you ever watched a movie where a scene just makes you jump out of your chair?
