About the program :
The next generation of Sythesis :
Hybrid 3.0 is a next-generation synthesizer. This high-resolution virtual synthesizer combines the coveted warmth of analog synthesizers with the full range of futuristic digital processing capabilities. The result is the best of both worlds—a virtual instrument with a wide range of precisely adjustable parameters that can sound like a synth you remember or like something no one has ever heard.
Over 1,200 Built-In Sounds :
Hybrid 3.0 includes over 1,200 inspiring presets to jump-start your creative process. Over 200 new patches, designed by renowned AIR sound designers, include everything from wobbles, synth pads, arpeggios, polysynths, basses, leads, sequences, and more. Hybrid fans will be pleased to know that the familiar Hybrid 2.0 presets have been completely redesigned, allowing users to enjoy their favorite sounds with all the improvements of Hybrid 3.0. If you enjoy tweaking parameters, Hybrid 3.0 features a full set of user-configurable parameters that allow you to create unique sounds and customize them to your liking. With support for two simultaneous parts (i.e., a powerful combination of two separate synths with three oscillators), you can layer, split, or distribute sounds to create deep, complex, and expansive patches. Additionally, a simple patch browser makes it easy to find the preset you need and load two presets simultaneously, one in each part, to experiment with rich timbres and play sounds from multiple patches.
High-Definition Oscillators :
With three versatile oscillators and a sub-oscillator in each section, Hybrid 3.0 lets you combine multiple oscillators to create massive pads, leads, basses, and more. Two multi-function oscillators can recreate classic subtractive synthesis waveforms, evoking nostalgia for analog gear. Furthermore, these oscillators are equipped with digital wavetable algorithms. As a result, users can choose from nine different modes, including multi-square waveforms, sawtooth sync, sawtooth cross-modulation (which modulates the pitch of a sawtooth wave with a triangle wave to produce complex tones), multi-peak (a set of seven sawtooth waves in unison), square wave sync, square wave cross-modulation, square wave pulse-width modulation (PWM), and wavetable. Hybrid 3.0 offers 100 wavetables with 64 single-cycle waveforms each. The third oscillator includes sawtooth, square, and triangle waves, as well as a noise generator and a sub-oscillator for creating deep bass effects.
Dual Filtering and Saturation Modes :
Hybrid 3.0 features two multi-mode filters that can be operated in series or parallel. The filters can also be configured to operate one filter per channel of the stereo output, or with Oscillator 1 feeding Filter 1 and the other oscillators feeding Filter 2. Both filters can be operated in either DCF (digitally controlled filter) or VCF modes. The vintage Voltage Controlled Filter (VCF) makes it easy to achieve the rich retro sounds of 70s and 80s synthesizers. This sonic filter gives Hybrid 3.0 the legendary smoothness and richness of classic analog synth hardware filters.
Use revolutionary multi-mode filters to shape the instrument’s tone by cutting or boosting specific frequencies. Choose from a comprehensive collection of 23 modes. Then adjust the filter cutoff, velocity, and key tracking. The resonance control can change the tone from nasal to crisp, boosting frequencies near the cutoff and creating self-oscillation. A mixture of signals from the third oscillator and noise generator can serve as an audio modulation source for the filter cutoff, creating distinctive electronic sound effects.
To add expressiveness to your image, adjust the filter saturation. Hybrid 3.0 offers the original Overdrive filter, which creates a soft, tube-like clipping, as well as five additional filter saturation modes: Distort, which creates a harder, brighter clipping; Hard Clip, which creates a very hard, bright clipping similar to transistor clipping; Rectify, which creates a soft distortion that preserves the character of the input signal; Bit Crush, which creates intentional aliasing by reducing the bit depth; and Resample, which creates intentional aliasing by reducing the sample rate.
LFOs :
Hybrid 3.0 includes four LFOs per part: two monophonic, one polyphonic, and one LFO with a dedicated pump. Use the LFOs to modulate pitch, volume, or cutoff to create vibrato, tremolo, or electronic sweeps. Choose from eight modulation types, ranging from sine and triangle waves to random “drift” modulation and sample-and-hold modulation. Adjust the depth, frequency, phase, and sync mode to quickly and dramatically alter the sound.
Pump is a special type of envelope that mimics studio sidechain production to create a pumping and breathing effect. With Hybrid 3.0, this rhythmic effect can be applied to more than just the overall mix. The Pump LFO can be configured to create a rhythmic effect on various parameters, such as pitch or filter settings.
Envelope Editors :
Four envelope editors let you easily customize the filter, amplitude, and any two other modulation envelopes. Adjust velocity, attack, decay, and key tracking, then enter the envelope velocity.
Hybrid 3.0 introduces the Hype feature, which lets you quickly boost the low or high frequencies of any patch. Boost wobble, bass, and kick drum sounds with deep sub-bass by adjusting the Hype Low parameter, or increase the Hype High value to polish the high frequencies with shimmer and shine. The latter option is great for pads, strings, brass, and percussion instruments.
Hybrid 3.0 Doubling
offers a new way to add dimension to your patches. The General tab features two Doubling knobs, one for each part, for additional expansion and amplification. Turn the Doubling knobs all the way up for a dramatic boost, or turn them slightly for a subtle boost.
Performance-Focused Features :
Whether you’re using it in the studio or live, Hybrid 3.0 is designed for performance. Use step sequencers to create arpeggios or phrases. Customize the modulation matrix to easily match source modulations to target modulations. Set up morphing groups to quickly change sounds using the interface or a MIDI controller.
Hybrid 3.0’s built-in 16-step sequencers :
have been redesigned for increased programming and sequencing flexibility. Steps can now be combined to alter the sequencer’s rhythm, control note dynamics, and create complex modulation patterns. As before, both sequencers can be used as composition tools or as an additional modulation source, making it easy to create dynamic patches. You can set note duration, velocity, and modulation, and then choose from nine playback options to use the sequencer as a step sequencer, arpeggiator, or MIDI phrase generator. You can also import your own MIDI phrases for complete customization.
Hybrid 3.0 also offers flexible and easy-to-use modulation :
matrices with 16 customizable modulation sources and over 20 destinations for each. Assign modulations to the oscillator or filter. Hybrid 3.0 allows assignment of multiple sources and destinations with adjustable intensity.
Morphology Groups :
With Hybrid 3.0, you can assign any rotary knob or fader on the plugin interface to one of four morphing groups. Assign pan, filter, or amp envelopes to a morphing group to morph sounds with a controller during recording or live performance. Each morphing group can control multiple parameters simultaneously. You can, in turn, control morphing groups using the knobs on the interface or a MIDI controller.
Hybrid 3.0 Effects :
lets you use two insert effects per part, each supporting over 40 effect types, allowing you to quickly change the sound of a part. A separate master effects section lets you select reverb, delay, and chorus effects to enhance or distort any sound at the patch level. Easily adjust effect parameters and sync them to the selected tempo.
Seamless Integration DAW :
Hybrid 3.0 is available in VST and AAX plugin formats for 32- and 64-bit operating systems, and in AU format for 64-bit operating systems. With a rich set of analog and digital sounds and a large number of customizable parameters, Hybrid 3.0 gives musicians, arrangers, composers, and sound engineers the capabilities and performance of a unique hardware synthesizer, along with the convenience and flexibility of a built-in plugin.
