Description:
Portable version of Reason 12 STANDALONE to run as a DAW from a USB flash drive or any other drive without installing the program and emulator R2R.
Can be run as a Rack plugin – but only through REAPER in this distribution (provided that no other Rack plugin is installed on the computer, see Additional Information).
Attention! Building Reason 12 is as easy as possible. All presets and samples are cut (except for ID8 and the Orkester.rfl bank). Therefore, the project will warn about the absence of factory samples if it was created earlier using the factory bank. I did the assembly for myself, because I like to synthesize from scratch, and I do not need gigabytes of presets and samples.
This is an assembly based on the R2R release, so it also cannot work with projects of the licensed version.
Assembly composition:
Reason12.exe – shortcut to launch Reason 12 STANDALONE (main file)
Reason12.dat – container with Reason 12 STANDALONE (main file)
Reason12.dat.alt – ThinApp system file (recommended)
taskkill all.cmd – forcefully close hung processes of portable Reason12 (highly recommended)
REAPER6.exe – to run Reason as a Rack plugin (if a Rack plugin is needed)
REAPER6.exe.alt – ThinApp system file (recommended)
Add. information:
The portable version of Reason 12 STANDALONE can work in parallel with other Reason and VST2 x64 plugins installed on the computer.
Reason as a Rack plugin cannot work in parallel with other Rack plugins installed on the computer. This is due to the fact that REAPER will see two plugins at the same time at the same address – installed and portable. Reason as a Rack plugin is only launched via the portable REAPER in this distribution. To do this, run REAPER6.exe, scan VST3 plugins (the standard path is C: \ Program Files \ Common Files \ VST3, regardless of the location of the portable folder) and run Reason Rack Plugin (Reason Studios) from the list of plugins.
So that Reason does not warn you about the absence of factory presets or samples every time you load an instrument or a plug-in, uncheck the options in the settings for STANDALONE and Rack plug-in:
Edit -> Preferences -> General -> New devices get browse focus
Edit -> Preferences -> General -> Load default sound in new devices
The first start can be long due to the scanning of VST plugins and all portable containers. Plus running in a virtual container adds sluggishness. This cannot be avoided or corrected.
