Description: A single channel strip. It features a microphone preamplifier, filters, a musical 4-band equalizer, a compressor, and a gate—all modeled at the circuit level. This channel strip was used on countless commercial recordings throughout the 90s and 2000s.
What makes it different: PCCN™
Most “analog” plug-ins emulate analog hardware using methods like fixed saturation curves, impulse response snapshots, or neural “black box” models. Legend Channel takes a different approach. Our PCCN™ engine is built upon the actual circuitry—incorporating real transformers, transistors, and voltage-controlled amplifier (VCA) stages from the original designs, modeled according to the physical properties of the components. It responds to your signal exactly as the hardware does, regardless of the gain settings or signal levels.
Conventional DSP models simulate the *result*—a fixed curve or a snapshot of device behavior at a specific setting. PCCN models the *cause*. It is built upon actual circuits and mathematical equations: the magnetic hysteresis of the transformer is calculated in real-time, while the amplifier and voltage-control stages are derived from precise solutions for the original NE5534-based and transistor-based circuitry. This is a true circuit-based model—not a hyperbolic tangent curve, an impulse response (IR) snapshot, or a neural network—so it responds to level and control settings exactly like the hardware, regardless of how it’s configured.
* A true circuit-based model; not a hyperbolic tangent curve, an IR snapshot, or a neural network.
* Emergent analog behavior: transformer “bloom,” VCA capture, and level-dependent saturation.
* Built from actual schematics and components, verified against technical specifications.
* Native. No iLok. No subscription. Available in AU, VST3, and AAX formats for macOS, Windows, and Linux.
What you get
* A mic/line preamp with an input transformer stage, plus “Preamp Drive” control (push the circuit without increasing the output volume).
* High-pass and low-pass filters with a 12 dB/octave slope.
* A musical 4-band equalizer (HF / HMF / LMF / LF — shelving or bell-curve, with proportional Q).
* Full dynamics section: a compressor (ranging up to a limiter — with auto-release and auto-gain) plus a gate/expander (featuring range, hysteresis, ducking, and external sidechain/key input).
* Output level control, fader, and peak meterin
g; includes presets and a resizable user interface (100–150%).
An honest take
We haven’t licensed the original brand name, and we won’t pretend that some famous engineer used this unit on 21 chart-topping albums. Here’s what we can tell you: this is a circuit-accurate model of a legendary British console channel, created by a single developer based on the original schematics—and, in our opinion, it sounds exactly as it should. Don’t just take our word for it: download the demo, test it on your own tracks, and compare it against what you already have.
