Description:
A console equalizer emulation plug-in — features four selectable equalizer styles and analog-style character for each channel.
Modeled after a classic mixing console. It features four equalizer styles, two processing engines, and distinct characteristics for the left and right channels—all measured and reconstructed. The AEQ-4000 Fusion eXtreme console channel is based on a classic mixing console equalizer. Every frequency band, gain curve, and Q-factor was measured from the original hardware and recreated, including the unique variations between the left and right channels. The equalizer curves match the hardware measurements with an RMS deviation of just 0.44 dB.
Presets that work exactly as intended
Presets are designed based on the assumption that the incoming signal hits the device’s reference level. If you feed it a quieter signal, the modeled circuit won’t be driven as hard, meaning the specific timbre and harmonics the preset relies on won’t manifest. The typical workaround—adjusting the input level—robs you of the very control that determines how hard the analog-style circuit is pushed.
Reference Level Calibration (Ref Cal) allows you to decouple these two parameters.
Enable “Ref Cal”—the third state of the “Unity” button—and run “Auto Input.” The measured adjustment is stored internally within the device rather than being applied to the “Input Trim.” The knob itself doesn’t move; the active value is displayed on the button. Since this calibration isn’t a standard plug-in parameter, it is not saved as part of a preset. If you exit “Ref Cal” mode, the calibration is bypassed, but the value remains stored—re-entering the mode restores the calibration without needing to re-measure.
