Description:
The character of analog outboard gear, fully recreated in your DAW using neural capture.
Overview:
NeuralOutboard performs neural captures of analog gear, allowing you to print authentic saturation, harmonics, and color onto any source—vocals, drums, bass, synths, or a full mix.
Load NAM (Neural Amp Modeler) captures into two independent slots, process them to your liking, and shape the output using full stereo, Mid-Side, and oversampling capabilities. From subtle blending to pronounced analog grit, the sound remains clean, precise, and musical.
GPU Acceleration
Run the neural model on your GPU instead of the CPU. One button, no complex settings. This enables oversampling rates that a CPU simply cannot handle: at 32× oversampling—where a CPU might struggle to run even a single instance—an M3 Max MacBook Pro can run six. Powered by Metal on macOS and Direct3D 12 on Windows.
Zero-Latency GPU Mode
A secondary mode introduces zero latency, allowing for real-time monitoring and tracking through the plugin. While it supports fewer simultaneous instances than the standard GPU mode, this is offset by other distinct advantages.
Neural Capture Engine
Load NAM capture files (.nam) into two independent slots—with full support for both the new A2 architecture and legacy A1 models—to faithfully reproduce the saturation and harmonic distortion of analog hardware.
NAM Sets and Morphing
Store an entire series of captures within a single preset—such as a single instrument recorded at various drive settings—and smoothly morph between them using a single “Morph” knob, with full automation support.
Ten Free Factory Sets
The plugin comes with a free collection of carefully curated sample sets captured from real hardware. These are installed separately; simply select the ones you want, and they will appear in the preset menu.
Drive & D/W Mix
Push the model to generate richer harmonics, then blend the processed and dry signals for parallel saturation.
Stereo & Mid-Side
Process audio in Left, Right, Mid, Side, Mono, Stereo, or Mid-Side modes, with preset M-S balance.
Oversampling
Up to 32× oversampling with full aliasing suppression, independent real-time and offline rendering settings, and a choice of IIR, Min-FIR, Poly, or Linear filters. The oversampling engine was redesigned in version 3.2 and runs approximately three times faster, allowing your system to handle more instances.
Alignment at Any Setting
Latency is measured for each model and reported to your DAW, while the dry signal path is aligned internally within the plugin. This ensures the D/W Mix maintains phase coherence regardless of the oversampling rate or filter choice, while the host application automatically compensates for the remaining latency.
Precision Tuning
Features DC blocking, delta signal monitoring, automatic input and output gain adjustment, stereo input, and output fine-tuning.
Presets and Metering
Save and recall your own presets with comprehensive input and output metering across the entire signal chain.
MAX Banks
These captures were created by pushing the tube, transformer, or tape stages to their absolute limits; rotating the dial allows you to sweep through the entire saturation range, from maximum intensity to a clean signal.
