Description:
Commercial loudness with a character of your choosing, not a threshold to watch.
A time-domain ADC clipper with a P21 Atlas stabilizing engine that stays ahead of the rails. Pick a style, set DRIVE, listen. Three converters in the spirit of the times, near-zero latency, transients remain where the recording captured them.
Two versions, one engine
Choose your scene.
The same stabilizing clipper, the same three styles. The version determines how many channels RAIL will process, and you can switch from stereo to immersive as the session progresses.
Immerse yourself in RAIL
All channel formats supported by RAIL, from mono to 9.1.6, are cut into a single, coherent program while preserving the sound field.
MONO · STEREO · LCR · QUAD · 5.0 · 5.1 · 7.0 · 7.1 · 7.1.2 · 7.1.4 · 9.1.6
RAIL Stereo:
Full engine and all three options on mono and stereo channels. Switch to Immersive when your session extends beyond two channels.
MONO STEREO
Stereo in Immersive
If a RAIL Stereo license is loaded onto a multichannel bus, the plug-in will recognize the unsupported scheme and pass the audio through unchanged. Start with stereo and switch to Immersive when the number of channels exceeds two.
Stabilizing Clipper
Embodies the Atlas DNA.
Ahead of the rail is a stabilizing mechanism—the same principle as in the P21 Atlas. It smooths out peaks before they’re cut off, so the low-cut filter only corrects what the mixer missed, rather than smoothing out everything that falls outside the rail.
01 · Intermittent signals remain intact
Punch, not smoothed out peaks.
The mixer prepares peaks rather than flattens them, so the leading edge of the intermittent signal remains where it was recorded. The windowed low-cut filter softens this edge through predictive analysis. RAIL operates in real time.
02 · Characteristic features
Right in the verse, right in the chorus.
The engine and sound maintain their identity throughout the program, despite the material changing, peak after peak. You invest in the sound, rather than trying to fit within the transition threshold from one section to the next.
03 · Near-zero latency
Three samples. Fast enough for live performance.
With three delay samples, RAIL works with multiple subgroups without accumulating latency and is fast enough to be used as a front-of-house effect. It’s still a characteristic clipper, so for delivery, leave the last true peak limiter.
