The Marxophone is a fretless zither with four sets of chord progressions played with the left hand and two octaves of melody strings struck with metal hammers with the right hand. The hammers are mounted on a steel spring and, when struck repeatedly, produce a sound similar to a mandolin, hence the name “mandolin-guitar-zither,” sometimes applied to the Marxophone. The library contains all minor and major chords and all chromatic notes with four velocity layers.
