Description : Cello
A library of playable two-note slurs for creating expressive string textures. Play overlapping pairs of notes within a perfect fourth of each other to create two-note slurs or ‘ripples ‘ .
With stringed instruments, there’s a kind of energy and life that you can put into the sound by moving between two notes, especially if you’re playing them with one bow movement. You can expressively hit the first note and then let the second note flow into the first so that it sounds like one gesture. If those notes were written separately and then put together, it wouldn’t have the same nuance.

It’s fun to play these two-note slurs at different dynamics. To capture this feeling, all the samples are recorded as swells . At the beginning of the swell, the second note can be played so lightly that the pitch is barely noticeable. It’s like a ghost note. Then, as the sound gets stronger, the slurs naturally change and adapt to keep it fresh.

As with many other Osterhouse Sounds libraries , these are not standard string articulations. This is a specific playing style that works well when mapped to a piano keyboard. We hope this playing style inspires you to explore new ways to use strings in your music, whether in sample libraries or working with session musicians.
