Description: The developer of programs reFX presented a new version of the popular Nexus rompler, which received a completely redesigned design and layout of controls, improved performance and an updated library.
reFX Nexus 3 has three columns for navigating presets and folders, settings for tags and bookmarks, the ability to add instruments to favorites, and save custom presets. Each sound can now be previewed before use, and instruments can be searched for by tags or names. The plugin has got a new arpeggiator with an increased pattern length, a modified effects section (EQ, filter, reverb, delay, limiter) with a visualizer and a newly developed sequencer.
Other Nexus 3 features include: scalable interface, Nexus 2 compatibility, 16,000 instrument presets, 160GB library. The program can work in AU, VST and VST3 formats and supports most popular workstations.

Installation :
1. Nexus Library is placed in Application (you can save it on another disk, but then an alias file is created which must be placed in Application. An alias can be created in SymLinker)
2. Copy Nexus.component to / Library / Audio / Plug-Ins / Components
3. Copy Nexus.vst to / Library / Audio / Plug-Ins / VST
4. Copy Nexus.vst3 to / Library / Audio / Plug-Ins / VST3
5. Copy the reFX folder to / Users / Shared
6. Let’s use it!

I’m sure you probably can’t change it now, but 178GB library file for a torrent is huge, and even with 1gb/s internet plan my computer only gets about 200mb/s and torrents only about 1-4mb/s so that’s like 3 days to download. It would be nice if you could split up the library into the expansion packs so we could download a few at a time instead of trying to kee a torrent open for 3 days. Thanks!

Hi, I installed nexus, I did all of what you said, but when I open the nexus, the library and presets do not appear anyway.

I got Nexus working and its libraries but when I load a preset it says “A file for the preset ‘preset’ is missing! There will be no sound! Please use the reFX Cloud app to verify and repair factory presets”

If you move the preset folder into the Nexus Library folder, you’ll see it. But it didn’t work.

@notdarkwolf did you install all 178gb of the library onto your internal hard drive? Sometimes if you only download half of a file to check if it’s working it won’t work without the rest of it being fully downloaded. My download hasn’t finished yet, so I can’t verify if it’s actually working or not atm. What torrent system are you using?

This is a huge milestone for the crackers, but, this is one I had to buy. Does this come with all the XP packs?? If so, is it possible to have legit and cracked libraries running in unison??

Its’s actually very easy to set up, just a LONG download process. Use qbittorrent, it was 2x faster than web torrenting.

I have the same issue. I downloaded everything and installed it. I can open it in my DAW, but then when I open a sound it says: “A file for the preset [PRESET NAME] is missing! There will be no sound! Please use the reFX Cloud app to verify and repair factory presets”

Have you installed Nexus component, vst and vst3 patches in there right place also?

Where is “Application” folder? Is this Applications folder where all my apps are installed??? Or is that inside the component/vst content folder???

    Reply
  25. Fluck

Application folder is where you install all your apps. I found out what is causing my error message “A file for the preset [PRESET NAME] is missing! There will be no sound! Please use the reFX Cloud app to verify and repair factory presets” … I installed the “Nexus Library” folder correctly. As I do this with other vsts too, when the have a huge library I put them on my external hard drive.

Unfortunately Nexus doesn’t recognize my Alias to the “Samples” folder on my hard drive. Any recommendations how to store the library on an external drive???

HOW TO STORE NEXUS 3 LIBRARY ON A EXTERNAL HARD DRIVE?

I found the answer for you guys. If you want to install the Nexus library on an external drive, you can do this by creating an Alias. Just follow the following steps:

    1. Start by locating the Applications folder on your Mac. Go to / Applications [for example press CMD+A]

    2. Move the “Nexus Library” folder from the “Nexus 3 Library.dmg” to your external drive inside the desired folder. In my case I used the following:
DISK NAME / Sound Library / reFX / Nexus Library

    3. Open Terminal

    4. Type in the following: sudo -s

It will prompt you for your password. Type your password and press enter.

    5. Next, type ln -s followed by a space.

    6. Drag and drop the Nexus Library folder from your external drive onto the terminal window.

    7. Next drag and drop the Application folder onto the terminal window.

    8. Press back space to get rid of the blank space and enter /Nexus to name your link “Nexus\ Library”. You should now see:

    ln -s DISK NAME / Sound Library / reFX / Nexus\ Library Applications\/Nexus\ Library

    9. Hit Enter. Now you have linked Logic Library to your external hard drive.

    10. Hit Enter. Now you have linked Nexus Library to your external hard drive.

In case you didn’t understand, there is a video explaining the issue https://youtu.be/qROJfHUlOQI -> Don’t get confused this is about Logic Pro X but it’s just the same issue!

    Okay here’s how I did it…

    Open “Nexus 3 Install.DMG”
Move files in “Plugins K’d” folder
“Component” to Macintish HD > Library > Audio >Plug-Ins >Components
“VST” to Macintosh HD > Library > Audio >Plug-Ins >VST
    “VST 3” tp Macintosh HD > Library > Audio >Plug-Ins > VST3

Move the reFX folder to Macintosh HD/ Users / Shared

Open Nexus Library DMG, copy Nexus Library folder to external SSD drive

Download “SymbolicLinker for Mac” or any other available app that installs a symbolic linker (this is easier than using Terminal). Once installed right click on “Nexus Library” go to “Services” at bottom of menu and click “make symbolic link”. A new folder should appear called “Nexus Library symlink”. Move this folder to Macintosh HD> Applications. Rename it to “Nexus Library” … start DAW…. should work! Good luck

I can find Nexus in the “Plugin Manager” but it cant be opened there, so the box right next to it wont work if I “check” it.

Can anyone help me with this? :/

Hey, Thank you so much!! It worked as a breeze…worth the wait to download for 5 days.

I installed the presets in external disk and it works perfectly with it.

Just follow the instructions and the process of creating alias in application folder I followed was by: FLUCK!! Thank you buddy

    8. Press back space to get rid of the blank space and enter /Nexus to name your link “Nexus\ Library”. You should now see:

    ln -s DISK NAME / Sound Library / reFX / Nexus\ Library Applications\/Nexus\ Library

This worked for me, and the solution is very simple:
First copy the Nexus Library to your desired drive.

Go to users/shared/reFX/nexus/settings.json and open “settings.json” in any text editor.

    Go to this line:

“library_folder”: “/PLEASE PASTE HERE ANY LOCATION FROM HDD or SSD 170+GB MAKE SURE THE LAST FOLDER MUST CALLED Nexus library/”,

Fil lin the location of your Nexus Library, like this:
    “library_folder”: “/Volumes///Nexus Library/”,

Save the file and restart Nexus in your DAW

    This works like a charm!

    Hey dears..
Once you copied plugins to respective folder, you can copy the library to external hdd. Then go to copied reFX folder in the user shared there is settings.json file. Open this in text application and you can see one library path there, change this to external HDD files, e.g Volumes/External HDD Name/FolderName
